The Beginning

The idea of a Club was conceived by a group of Audi enthusiasts who were posting on the Audi-Sport.Net Bulletin Board at that time and with this common interest in the Audi brand of car, the Audi Club of SA came to life. This was way back in December 2001. The following were posting on the forum during that time: AVDHS6/S3 (R.I.P)A3T-KevArnoS3GreenDemonJabba (Capetown)Radical (Knysna)JulianS3Thierry (Natal)JoeSA This is the page where the idea of the club started, and…

The Rest is History

The club had their first official outing on the 9th March 2002 and the venue was the Jackson Diner on William Nicol Drive. Andre Van Den Heuvel was the first Chairman of ACSA.
The topics of discussion were, the formation of the club, a club website, promotion of the club, sponsorship, membership fees and the next meeting at the Rainbow ¼ mile track in Alberton on 21st March 2002. It goes without saying that the main (and most interesting) topic of discussion were the cars…!
The Kwa-Zulu Natal Chapter (KZN) had it’s first official club outing on the 14th September 2003. The group met at the Pavilion Shopping Centre and travelled in Convoy to the venue, Assagay Country Hotel, and some 10 Audi’s turned up for the first of many club outings. Des Brown and Thierry Kesselaar were the first committee members of KZN and the club went from strength to strength under their leadership.
During 2004 KZN decided to become a regional chapter of the Audi Club SA and a separate website was developed that concentrated purely on their local activities. In December 2004 Des decided to step down. Thierry was re-elected for a second term in office with Deepesh Soni as the KZN Chapter Committee members and Laurie Caldwell as the KZN Chapter Secretary. Since September 2003 the KZN Chapter has had at least one club event per month and these events are well supported by the passionate members of the KZN Chapter.
It may not seem like much, but at least it’s a beginning.
